Welcome to the Alliance. Our mission and purpose is to give access to interested supporters of public education to the activities of an organization that, over the last eighteen years, has labored to provide responsible solutions and research-based objective approaches to Ohio’s school funding problems. As it has worked with the many other dedicated education organizations in the State, the Alliance has championed objectively determined funding levels as the only legitimate means for satisfying the State’s obligation in meeting the Constitution’s “thorough and efficient” test. It also has worked tirelessly to establish more options for creating growth in local revenues and for overcoming the impact of Ohio’s unique property tax laws. More ->

This website will attempt to provide concise, current information regarding the latest developments in school funding and the implementation of Am. Sub. H.B. 1's many education reform and school funding changes.

The Alliance is a consortium of approximately sixty Ohio school districts, mostly high-performing, high tax effort, above average wealth districts dedicated to the concept that school funding should be the State’s number one priority, that education is the single, most important factor for ensuring sustained economic growth in the state, and that objectively determined, stable, adequate funding levels are the only way to guarantee appropriate educational opportunities for all of Ohio’s youth and satisfy the state constitution’s “thorough and efficient” clause.

For the past nineteen years, the Alliance has sought responsible solutions for school funding problems, including participation in the development of reforms in special, career/technical and gifted education; crafting additional local funding options to allow some growth in local revenues; protecting, to the extent possible, district tax bases; facilitating research into more objective school funding formulas; and, generally advocating for sufficient educational resources for every Ohio public school student regardless of geographic location or socioeconomic circumstance.
